The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. Your responsibilities include:
- Processing tasks within the framework of the BMWE-funded LuFo project “Sonrisa”
- Work package management “AP3.2 Workflow development for zone-based CT analysis”
- Conducting and evaluating computed tomography measurements on laboratory micro-computed tomography systems in division 8.5
- Management and implementation of the work package ‘Workflow development for zone-based XCT analysis (region-of-interest XCT)’
- XCT simulations with BAM's own software aRTist, as well as correlation of simulation results with XCT measurements
- Development of a region-of-interest workflow for XCT
- Support in the operation of the laboratory micro computed tomography systems of Division 8.5
- Active participation in project meetings and detailed coordination with project partners
- Active participation in the BAM focus area “Materials”
- Acquisition and processing of research projects
- Supervision of master's theses, doctoral students and technical staff
- Cooperation with internal and external research groups as well as with industrial partners
- Detailed scientific documentation of results through specialist articles, presentations at national and international conferences, publications and reports
Your qualifications:
- Successfully completed university degree in physics, engineering, electrical engineering or similar with a doctorate
- In-depth knowledge and experience in computed tomography
- In-depth experience and knowledge in digital image processing and analysis
- Experience in the design and implementation of experimental setups and instrumentation, in particular in-situ computed tomography
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages relevant to the task (e.g. Python, Matlab, Labview, C++)
- Very good knowledge of English (spoken and written)
- Good knowledge of materials science, in particular additive manufacturing of metals using powder bed processes (PBF-LB/M) and the process itself is desirable
- Good experience in other material characterisation techniques is desirable
- Experience with the simulation software “aRTist” is desirable
- Experience in supervising students and young scientists is desirable
- Knowledge of German (spoken and written), or willingness to learn German or improve German language skills
- Good communication skills, both verbal (e.g., demonstrated by presentations at international conferences) and written (ability to publish scientific articles and reports)
- Initiative/commitment and ability to take action, decision-making skills and ability, teamwork and cooperation skills, as well as conceptual, strategic, and innovative thinking skills
